Retinitis Pigmentosa
The effectiveness of Micro Acupuncture was recently studied at Johns Hopkins University who carried out the first ever clinical study on the efficiency of treating Retinitis Pigmentosa with acupuncture. Based on the success of the Johns Hopkin’s study, the National Institute of Health has funded a second clinical trial using Micro Acupuncture treatment protocols. The first peer reviewed study of the efficiency of Micro Acupuncture was recently published in the medical journal Clinical and Experimental Optometry.
Optic Neuropathy
Micro Acupuncture can help patients with Ischemic Optic Neuropathy. This treatment can help with visual acuity and light sensitivity. It also reduces defects of the visual field for patients with Non-Arteritic Optic Neuropathy. (NAION). This is because acupuncture improves blood circulation to the eyes and optic nerve. The damage to the optic nerve is caused by insufficient blood supply. Risk factors include diabetes and hypertension.
